At the last (online) British Ecological Society conference (14-18 December 2020), I presented the results of a project that tested whether soil chemical legacies created by a forb or a grass community can affect later arriving plants.

Research visit to the Fukami Lab
|
In July/August 2019, I visited the community ecology lab of Tad Fukami at the University of Stanford, mainly to discuss about research collaborations on priority effects. I spent four amazing weeks in California and learned a lot from Tad and all the members of his group. They are all doing very inspiring research. In addition to the time spent in the Fukami Lab, the hikes in Redwoods or in the Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve were undoubtedly some of the best moments of this research stay (thanks Leslie Decker and Megan Morris!).

Rhizosphere 5

For anybody interested in root research, Rhizosphere 5 was the place to be! I attended the conference organized in July 2019 in Saskatoon (Canada) and presented a poster describing a grassland field experiment that my colleagues and I will set up in Lüneburg (Germany) in 2020 to investigate how weather conditions during plant establishment affect the strength, direction, and persistence of priority effects.
